Three Words
Did you realize you can increase your success by simply choosing to use certain words? Let’s say you’re fired-up to create a financial improvement in your life. You’ve set your goals down on paper, and even created a plan of action. You’ve got fire and desire, and know exactly what you’re going to do. You set your goal for tomorrow morning, and then promise yourself, “Starting tomorrow I’ll try to ….” But whoops... you just made a success-killing mistake - one that ensures you probably won't manage to achieve your goal. But beat yourself up. Lot's of folks fall into this mistake! What does “I’ll try” really mean? It means you’ve given yourself an exit, just in case you hit some bumps in the road (and you most certainly will.) The word “TRY” lacks intention and confidence. It assumes failure. It says, “Alright, I’ll give it a go, but I do NOT expect to succeed.” It provides a built-in escape route, and I doubt that is what you intended. The "I Am"Statement “I am” at least does not presume failure. But there’s still a problem when you say “I am.” The problem? WHEN and WHERE are you ACTUALLY going to take your intended action? If you find you’re having trouble committing to when and where, it’s probably time to take a good look at either your goal, or your goal plan. If your goal is right, your goal plan might have you starting with the wrong first step (one you have resistance to.) Back up and identify an action step you’re ready to tackle. It doesn’t matter how small it may seem. You’re often better off starting with a small step and achieving success - than starting off with a huge step you’re not ready to handle. The "I Really Mean Business" Statement This statement establishes a sense of power and intention. It says you truly mean business. That you believe in what you are saying, and you are right NOW taking a step to make it happen. It means you are in action, and have made a very real commitment to yourself that you are NOW honouring. It also says that you WILL find a way to get the task done, even if there is a bump in the road. Higher levels of success are achieved by coming from the most passionate place within yourself, breaking your goal down into a series of achievable steps, then committing to each step one at a time starting NOW! Because the truth is … you really can only do what is before you right now! Tomorrow’s larger success is built on today’s smaller successes. This “NOW” approach makes your success inevitable. OK… here’s the big question: Are you ready to commit to DO what you need to do RIGHT NOW to create a higher level of success in your life? Here's a little clue to how your brain helps (or kills) your success: The bottom part of your brain is called the "brainstem," and contains an important success activator called the Reticular Activating System (RAS). The RAS is the “editor” that determines what will (or will not) come to the attention of your higher brain -- the part that directs your actions. When you have a clear and passionate vision of what you want in your life, the RAS watches for things in the environment that will help you get it. When the RAS spots something, your brain is then alerted, and you move toward it. This is a MAJOR science-based clue to why the Law of Attraction works! But without a passion-based clarity of what you want, your RAS instead just serves as a general filter. Your brain then pays little attention to helping you achieve your goals, and just watches out for things you should avoid. New research shows that hugs and kisses can cut the level of stress hormones coursing through your body by as much as 7 percent, according to a recent study in the journal of Psychosomatic Medicine. And even a pat on the back and holding hands can do the trick. Plus...you get calmer every minute you’re in contact.
Beate Ditzen, Ph.D., a psychologist at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, studied 51 couples for a week. She asked them to record their activities and take saliva samples every three hours.
The samples were analyzed for levels of the stress hormone cortisol. The results clearly indicated that "Intimacy reduced cortisol levels by improving mood," says Dr. Ditzen.
Every minute spent hugging, kissing, holding hands or sexual intimacy created a small decrease in stress. Every touch had the same power to soothe -- the 10th hug or kiss worked just as well as the first, and 20 hugs generated 20 times as much stress relief as a single hug.
It seems a hug can erase the tension of a tough work day -- and intimacy actually protects you from feeling work stress at all.
The de-stressing effects of sexual intimacy and physical warmth may explain why happily married couples live longer and healthier lives. Studies prove that loving touch reduces blood pressure.
And a hug causes a release of the hormone oxytocin, which creates an emotional high. Other studies have linked friendship with good health, longevity and less stress. And Dr. Ditzen agrees that snuggling up to anyone who feels warm to you can reduce stress levels.
