Seems as though everyone is talking about "Tough Times" lately. If it’s not the topic of the TV news, you will find it in your favorite magazine or blog. I say, enough is enough.
One thing I've learned is my life adventure is this: It IS totally possible to thrive during "down times." And this is not just about survival or managing to somehow "get through it." I'm talking about the capability to fully experience true happiness and joy, and still wake up looking forward to each day.
Before you just decide this sounds “corny,” take a few minutes to consider the following 5 things that might help you do the same in your life..
1. Change The Channel
You and only you control the information you choose to invite into your life, and what you choose to focus on. It’s true ... our TVs and newspapers are packed full of bad news and fear of more to come. And you might have some people at work or acquaintances with negative attitudes. You do have a choice to buy into, or reject, their messages. Spend more time with positive people, watch positive television, visit positive websites, enjoy positive books and magazines. You DO have a choice.
2. Release What Hurts
Your emotions aren't something to be ignored, they are there to guide your actions. If you’re feeling bad or depressed about something, it’s better to express that so you can move on. Just bottling it up does NOT release it. So if you DO need to release something, give yourself some time along and allow the tears or anger or rage or fear to express itself. Only then can you understand it and move past it.
3. Act As If
Once you have allowed your sad or angry feelings to vent, try another approach that is scientifically proven to work – Act As IF you are happy and have it together. Just straighten up your shoulders, lift your head, and get a real smile on your face. In other words, act as if you are happy and have it all together.
As one of our ezine readers, you already know that scientific studies have proven your brain doesn't know the difference between acting happy and actually being happy. The same brain reaction comes with both. And acting as if you are happy releases “happy chemicals” in your brain.
4. Take Action
If you're in a situation and do NOT know what to do, remember this: Any action is better than no action at all. No action leaves you stuck, while at least doing something moves you forward. If you are not sure of what do do about a problem, at least sit down and do this: make a list of possible options, choose one, and DO it.
5. Trust Your Intuition
Your deepest self, your intuition, is trying to provide guidance every moment of every day. Just listen to it. Your brain is basically energy in action – just like the rest of the universe. Your intuition is always connected to the greater consciousness, even when you are not aware of it. Trust yourself, your intuitive hunches and insights, and learn to act on that trust. The more open and trusting you are, the easier the things and experiences you want will appear in your life!
The difference between struggling to surviving, and managing to thrive, lies in choosing to take control in how you choose to live your daily life. Choose well.

I am often asked, "What is the true scientific secret behind the Law of Attraction?"
The most common definition for the Law of Attraction is based on the assumption that *like attracts like.* But this definition, although somewhat accurate, falls short of explaining how the Law of Attraction works. Other people refer to vibrations and frequencies, but this too falls short.
So let's take a look at a scientific explanation of the Law of Attraction. The true scientific secret behind the Law of Attraction hinges on the concept of reality, and how much of it we are each capable of perceiving.
Stay with me please ... this is not that difficult to understand. The physical environment we are each surrounded by is so complex that our conscious minds simply cannot handle it in its entirety -- so our brains filter the sensory data we are bombarded with, and let only a tiny fraction of it in.
This is all based on the sensory-based filtering your brain performs to keep you from total confusion and overwhelm. The most interesting aspect of this sensory-based filtering is this: Our individual sensory filters tend to permit only certain aspects of the physical world (our reality) to pass through to our conscious attention.
Now, as Dr Jill has explained to you, what you perceive actually becomes your reality -- while what you do NOT perceive does not even exist in your reality. So once your brain has chosen a part of the vast reality of the immediate universe for you to actively perceive, in effect it has elected to *attract* that part of the universe to you.
To give you an analogy: Blue sunglasses only let only blue light pass through to our eyes. While one who wears green sunglasses will *attract* (perceive) things colored green. This applies to all of our senses and our perception in general, and is at the core of the physiological and scientific secret behind the Law of Attraction.
In other words, we perceive and get from the universe what we focus on, or "ask" for. Why? Because when we truly ask for something, we are filtering everything out except the thing we want to receive.
