Suppose, for example, you have a goal of doubling your income over the next three years. You could begin a problem-solving exercise by identifying the resistance standing in the way of your goal. Ask yourself: “Why is my income not that high already?” Step 4: Analyze the Resistance
Step 5: Take a Look at the Outside World Step 6: Identify Your Primary Internal Resistance Plus, since it’s so tough to create change in the outside world, it’s far more effective to focus on yourself anyway. You’re far more likely to get the results you want. Superior achievers tend to ask one question when they’re not moving ahead: “What is it inside me, or that I am doing or thinking, that is holding me back?” Step 7: Get Ruthless Demand answers from yourself. You need to know how you are placing limitations on your desired achievement, and look it right in the eyeballs. Step 8: Turn on the Lights Step 9: Constantly Examine Your Goal Combining your goal with intense desire or excitement puts you into the upper level of achievers. The more excited and enthusiastic you are about your goal, the more seriously your mind will go to work to bring the goal into your life. Continue to ask focused questions to generate more ideas about how to achieve your goal. The more intense your questions, the more ideas you will generate! And once you have sunk your teeth into your key internal resistance, you have placed your feet solidly on the high road to success. Activities that promote fast thinking such as speeding through an easy crossword puzzle, brain-storming quickly about an idea, or proper brainwave stimulation can boost energy and mood, says psychologist Emily Pronin, the study’s lead author.

"Every major disease that kills people in this country has an stress component," says Dr. Joseph of Tufts University. For Dr. Joseph and other researchers interested in preserving the brain's ability to function, stress is seen as the natural enemy. You are probably already familiar with the importance of some antioxidants like vitamins C and E. But more recently other antioxidants have come into the limelight. Many are natural chemicals (Flavonoids) that plants have evolved to protect themselves from disease. Flavonoids include the anthocyanins found in brightly colored fruits, and anthoxanthins found in green tea and soybeans. It seems the most colorful fruits and veggies are the most potent in anthocyanins -- including blueberries, blackberries and cranberries. And their antioxidants also have anti-inflammatory actions. Here’s great news: Blueberries actually reverse some of the effects of aging on the brain -- and boost short-term memory and spatial learning. People who eat a cup of blueberries a day perform well on tests of motor skills. And purple grape juice is also rich in flavonoids, and boosts mental performance. And then there is curcumin -- the active component of turmeric. This has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and helps remove the harmful metal buildup of metal associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Recent lab tests suggest that it directly targets the brain plaques linked to Alzheimer's disease.
